The iPhone app

The Chirp iPhone app is coming soon. Until then, open your Chirp site in Safari and choose Share → Add to Home Screen.

Something not working?

The troubleshooting page has fixes for the app, notifications, the Apple Watch, stations, detections and running your own server, with a search box.

Guides

The setup guide covers building a station, connecting it to a server (including automatic setup), running your own server and installing the app. The user guide covers every page and setting.

Getting an account

Chirp works with a Chirp site. Ask the person who runs your site for an invite code, then tap Create account on the sign-in screen and enter it.

Notifications

Chirp asks for permission the first time you sign in. If you said no, turn alerts on in the iPhone Settings → Chirp → Notifications. Choose which alerts you get under ⋮ → Settings → My Notifications (or tap the gear at the bottom of the Notifications tab): new species, the Daily Journal, the Sunday Weekly Journal, the daily digest (your site sets its time), and birds you watch. Every alert also stays in the Notifications tab.

Watching a bird

Open a species and tap Notify me, then choose every time it's heard or a 7 pm daily summary. Tapping an alert opens the recording.

Live Detect and the microphone

Live Detect uses the microphone only while it is running. If it can't hear anything, allow the microphone in Settings → Chirp.

Deleting your account

In Chirp, open ⋮ → My Profile → Delete account and confirm with your password. See the privacy policy for what is removed.
